I've known plenty of JWs on anti-depressants. They don't qualify as happy. And just because a group of people can force smiles and claim that they are happy, doesn't mean that any of it is sincere.
I'm not sure if I understand your situation well enough to give advice. Are you showing interest in JWs because you're interested in this JW girl? If it's just a matter of your family, you only need to plan a fade.
my youngest daughter is so cute, she loves singing and loves being festive.
when i put up the tree, she loved saying, "it's christmas, it's pretty...." her babysitter, a witness from my wife's hall, lives next door to a neighbor who put up decorations in the yard like i did in front of our apartment.
when we leave her house, she would run next door to look at the "christmas" as she would say, "look, the christmas.
Perhaps the situation could be settled by teaching the child some other songs, so that she is less inclined to sing "Happy Birthday" around the sitter. Perhaps you could teach her the National Anthem, "America the Beautiful", "Amazing Grace", "What a Friend We have in Jesus", etc.

now i know a main reason why it is so difficult to get uk newspapers to pick up a good jw-related story.. it's not just because jws are a tiny religion.
after all, scientology is arguably even smaller than jws, and they get more media exposure than we do.. it seems the extreme libel laws may be predominantly to blame for the watchtower's successful evasion of newpaper and television reports in the uk.. .
Yet WT can publish any lies they choose. It's not a level playing field where religion gets involved.

he went on to relate that holy spirit helped him to cope with the loss.

When you see all the other non-JWs survive disasters, get help from the government, their insurance, assistance from Red Cross, and then go on to rebuild their lives, how can JWs say that Holy Spirit helped them to cope? They have nothing different than others who believe they are helped by their gods. And they're no different than others that don't believe in any god, and yet get on with productive lives.
They've described the WT's Holy Spirit as nothing more than an imaginary friend. And certainly their "spiritual paradise" is just a fraudulent expression to describe the mental confines of their cult.

That really exposes the bullying done by WT on their followers and particularly on those that choose to leave JWs.
Ironically, starting at 2:00, it gives some good advice on how to respond to bullying as done by JWs.
hi there, as was suggested to me, i'm starting this thread to say hi to everyone.. my awakening began recently, after the new light on the 'slave'.
i felt it didn't add up and went to check and found out ttatt.
for a while i tried to find evidence of whether the wt might still be god's organization, i needn't say i couldn't.. i had already resigned as a ministerial servant and a pioneer, had already had several issues with the elders and did not put up with their nonsense for a long.

hi guys & girls.. though you can sit back down in your seats now, sorry but not a jw, never have been & never will be, am a totally happy with athiest life, lol.. started lurking here about a year ago, started dating a jw woman didn't i, i here the face palms, lol.
lucky for me i found this site while trying to find out more about the jw's very early on & knew exactly how this was prob going to end.

it looks like data-dog has issued his vote for tractazine as the moniker for the new half-sized wt magazines.. i had also proposed minizine as a descriptive name.. or course ragazine, half-asleep!, and half-botchtower are appropriate.. any other votes or suggestions?.

i'm 19, and i'm still currently a jw.
i guess i'm a born-in, or whatever you guys call it.
i've had some serious issues with the faith at the moment, and sexuality is a huge part.
